Information
Open Daily: 5:00am - 10:00pm
The Parks and Recreation Department operates 12 off leash areas in Austin for you to enjoy with your dog. When not in these specified areas, the Austin leash ordinance requires dogs to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet on all City land. Maximum fine: $500

Off Leash Area Advisory Committee
Serving as a liaison between the general public and the Parks and Recreation Department (PARD), the Off Leash Area Advisory Committee’s (OLAAA) mission is to support public and sustainable recreation for off-leash dogs and their humans, through partnerships and volunteers, education, fund-raising, identifying prospective OLA sites and providing PARD with advice and counsel on new and existing OLAs.

For more information about the Committee visit http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/parks/offleashareascommittee.htm
Scoop the Poop
Scoop the Poop: Dogs for the Environment reminds you to pick up after your pets. It helps keep parks clean and improves water quality in Austin's creeks. There are Mutt Mitt boxes filled with plastic bags for picking up and disposing of pet waste in many locations throughout the City for your convenience.

OFF-LEASH IS NOT OFF THE HOOK!
A new water quality monitoring study along Bull Creek shows high levels of bacteria at the off-leash pet area in District Park. The levels often exceed the State’s recommended limit for contact recreation so the City is asking Austinites to help by cleaning up pet waste in order to preserve all uses of the park including swimming, wading, and the off-leash dog areas.
