Central East Area Command
Commander Ronald Gamble
The Central East Area Command is made up of a rich diversity of residents and cultures. It contains some of the most unique and vital neighborhoods in the City. At the same time, the Central East Area contains pockets of poverty with serious crime problems ranging from drugs to gangs to prostitution. Despite any problems, the richest resource is the people of Central East Area themselves, who, when united in a cause and given the tools they need to make positive change, are able to surmount any difficulties.
The Austin Police Department believes in the ideals of neighborhood policing. The officers of the Central East Area Command are some of most dedicated and caring officers in the Department. The District Representative program is available to help build partnerships between patrol officers and the community, and to work on those problems that have the biggest impact on the quality of life. Together we can make the Central East Area safer, cleaner and more prosperous, with the kind of neighborhoods we would like our kids to grow up in.
