Special Events Unit

The Special Events Unit organizes officers to work the many special events throughout the downtown area. Pictured above, motorcyclists from all over the country converge on 6th Street for the "Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally (ROT Rally)."

• FY 2008-2009 rates for Off-Duty Police services connected to Special Events

The following “hourly rates” will apply for all police services rendered for Special Events starting October 1, 2008:
Patrol/Patrol Support

Police Officer	$52.00
Police Detective	66.00
Police Corporal	66.00
Police Sergeant	72.00
Vehicle Rental	10.00

Note:

• Vehicles can not be rented by themselves
• The vehicle rental fees will not be charged if the use of a Marked Unit is not integral to the safety of the project being worked

There is a 2 hour minimum per officer. When 5 or more officers are hired a Sergeant (as a Supervisor) is required by Police Policy. For larger events a supervisor is required for every 10 officers hired (example: 20 officers = 2 supervisors; 30 officers = 3 supervisors).
