South Central Area Command

The South Central Area Command is a dynamic community. The command covers the area between South Congress Avenue east to Del Valle past the Austin-Bergstrom Airport and Town Lake, and south to East Ben White Blvd. Found in this relatively small geographical area are numerous apartment complexes leading to a diverse, densely populated area of Spanish-speaking immigrants, University of Texas and Austin Community College students, families with blue-collar backgrounds, and single professionals living in South Central but commuting to jobs in other areas of the city. South Central also boasts well established and relatively new residential communities along with thriving businesses throughout the area.
A goal of the command is to encourage club owners and managers to be good neighbors within the community. The Good Neighbor Program was established to reduce violent crimes, with the first phase of the project focused on the East Riverside Drive corridor. Another goal is to continue working with the community in locating problem area hot- spots so they may be cleaned up and kept safe for families to enjoy. South Central takes to heart the “I CARE” departmental values. Each district representative comes to work with Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect, and Ethical actions and decision making. These values guide the South Central District Representatives in assisting you with community and neighborhood improvements.
