MBE / WBE / DBE Certification

The City of Austin's Department of Small & Minority Business Resources (DSMBR) is responsible for the implementation of the certification process for the City of Austin and for ensuring that only firms that meet the eligibility criteria are certified as MBEs or WBEs.

It is very important that all questions on the application are answered and that all required documents be submitted in order for your firm to be evaluated accurately and promptly.

We encourage you to schedule a visit with one of our certification staff members to walk you through the certification process and to provide you with information on how to fill out the certification forms, the type of information that will be requested and other relevant information regarding the MBE/WBE program.

New Certification Applications

• 1.Please register On-line at the Purchasing Office's website: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/purchase/ and select the VSS link to the Vendor Self Service registration system
• 2. Download and fill out completely the new application forms:

Certification Renewal

Certification is valid for three calendar years from the date of initial certification. You must however update your certification annually in order to continue in the program. DSMBR will notify you of upcoming annual updates.

• 1. If there have been any changes, please update your information On-line at the Purchasing Office's website: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/purchase/ and select the VSS link to the Vendor Self Service registration system
• 2. Mail in the completed renewal certification forms to DSMBR

The City of Austin is a member of the Texas Unified Certification Program, which certifies firms for federal contracting projects across the State of Texas.

Update Contact Information

Bid opportunities notices are sent to MBE, WBE, and DBE certified vendors when a scope of work is required to complete a project for which the vendors are certified. To update your contact information you may,
